HCS Grimsby Holi 26 Celebrations

The Hindu community in Grimsby celebrated the festival of Holi also known as the Festival of Colours on Friday 6 March at the Hindu Cultural Society Grimsby. The event celebrates the arrival of spring, joy, and the triumph of good over evil. During Holi, people throw coloured powders and water on each other, sing, dance, and share food, creating a sense of togetherness and equality.

The festival is rooted in Hindu mythology, especially stories of Lord Krishna and Radha symbolising love and playfulness and Holikla and Prahlad symbolising the victory of good over evil.

The event was attended by members of the Grimsby Hindu community as well as local dignitaries including Melanie Onn who is a Member of Parliament for Great Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
